Virat Kohli’s performance recently helped India once again to win the game against Australia in the first match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. India defeated Australia by 6 wickets. Virat Kohli’s contribution was not restricted with the bat but also as a fielder.
Virat Kohli saved numerous runs on the field and took a catch while flying to dismiss Mitchell Marsh on the slip. Virat Kohli was awarded with a medal in the dressing room after the match and was given the title of the ‘Best Fielder of the Match’. Virat danced while receiving the medal and felt like winning an Olympics medal as he posed with it in his mouth like the Olympics athletes.
“Firstly… at last, we got this because we’ve been telling everyone that we need to have a best fielder of the match etc. And at last, we got some token for it. I think in today’s game, Ishan put up an outstanding effort. Shreyas was outstanding for taking two catches. But something we keep talking about in this team is consistency. It’s just not about one catch, or one piece of fielding. Overall, I’d like to think intensity, backing up… not only doing your job but also making sure that you encourage and keep the right fielders at the right place. So, this one goes to Virat,” said Dilip while giving the medal to Virat Kohli.

“Quite honestly not a lot of conversation with Virat (as KL walked out on 2-3 in the 3rd over) I thought I’d get a good shower and get a break. I was just trying to get my breath back. Virat said there’s a bit in the wicket, so play like Test cricket for a while. There was a bit of help for the pacers with the new ball, and then the spinners also. In the last 15-20 overs, dew played a part and that helped quite a bit”, said KL Rahul.
