Barcelona star set to get a whopping €19 million next season

Barcelona’s wage bill is already heavily enlarged, leaving no space for the club to sign or register new players at the moment.

Considering the situation, the Barca is trying hard to dismiss players who do not belong in manager Xavi Hernandez’s plans as they look to cut their salary bill so as to be able to add new players to the list.

Nevertheless, at the same time, the Catalans might also have to consider removing some of their highest earners, which could explain their efforts to sell Frenkie de Jong this summer.

De Jong, 25, has been a crucial member in the side since joining from AFC Ajax back in 2019.

Whilst Xavi sees him as a key part of the setup, Barcelona’s financial situation has forced them to consider removing the Netherlands international.

De Jong is seen as one of the most vendable assets at the Catalan club and can fetch a significant transfer fee.

However, getting his huge wages off the payroll could be crucial for the Barca as well.

Though, as per reports, de Jong’s salary is set to augment to a massive €19 million per year next season.

Given the situations that the Barca is find themselves in footing that salary would be a huge financial burden on the club.

Moreover, President Joan Laporta is planning to launch a €10 million per year cap on player wages, and the Dutchman would be way over that limit.

So, whilst from a sporting perspective, de Jong has a pivotal role to play, freeing him would provide Barcelona with a huge economic relief with regard to the wage bill, whilst also aiding them rake in funds from the transfer fee.

Manchester United are in talks to sign de Jong, and even though he had initially featured reluctant to move, recent reports have proposed that de Jong has given the green light to the transfer.
