Roma triumph Conference League title beating Feyenoord

Nicolo Zaniolo triumphed Roma their first ever major European trophy with the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Feyenoord in the initial Europa Conference League final.

Italy international Zaniolo shoot with a well-taken finish in the 32nd minute to secure Roma their first trophy of any kind since 2008 and cap a victorious first season for Coach Jose Mourinho in Rome.

“It was a real struggle but I’m really happy,” Zaniolo stated. “It was my dream and now I’ve done it.”

Mourinho’s men were lucky, with Feyenoord having the strong play and twice shooting at the woodwork in the second half.

However, they remained powerful in the face of Dutch supremacy and brought joy to one of Europe’s most intense and success-famished fan bases.

Over 50,000 fans filled the Stadio Olimpico in the Italian capital to watch their team make history in Albania.

In the meantime, the small corner of supporters permitted into Tirana’s National Stadium bawled with delight once referee Istvan Kovacs blew his final whistle to conclude their team’s trophy desire.

For 1970 European champions Feyenoord it was their first ever trounce in a European final as well as being the first defeat in the contest for Arne Slot’s team.
