Rajasthan Royals beat Punjab Kings by 2 runs in a humdinger of a contest. Punjab was leading for the majority of the match but an epic last over by Kartik Tyagi got Royals home. Punjab won the toss and elected to bowl first in the Dubai international stadium.
Rajasthan Royals started well as openers Yashaswi Jaiswal and Ewin Lewis set up a good opening partnership for Rajasthan. The Punjab Kings bowlers pulled the game back with two quick wickets but a Mahipal Lomror brilliance took Rajasthan to a good total of 185 runs. He scored a quickfire knock of 43 runs of 17 balls.
Punjab bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Mohammad Shami bowled exceptionally as Rajasthan lost 6 wickets in the last 4 overs for 25 runs.
The seasoned Punjab Kings opening duo of Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul came out blazing all guns as they put up a massive partnership of 120 runs for the first wicket. Rajasthan had only themselves to blame for this as they dropped Rahul 3 times. In the Punjab middle-order, Pooran and Markram played mindful cricket as they put up a decent partnership too. Punjab Kings were absolutely running away with the match until the very last over. Kartik Tyagi defended 4 runs and took 2 top wickets including that of Pooran as Punjab bottled once again at a crucial stage.
With this win, RR moved to the fifth position in the points table with eight points while PBKS are still at the seventh spot.
