Ruturaj Gaikwad to Lead India A in One-Day Series Against Australia A

The Men’s Selection Committee has announced the India A squads for the upcoming home series against Australia A.

The series will be played in Puducherry. It will feature two multi-day matches and three one-day games.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been named captain of the one-day squad. His selection could mean that he is not in contention for India’s upcoming white-ball series against the West Indies.

Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has also been included in the one-day team. However, his participation will depend on fitness clearance from the Centre of Excellence.

Fast bowler Vijaykumar Vyshak also needs to be declared fit before playing in the series.

Devdutt Padikkal to Lead Multi-Day Squad

Devdutt Padikkal has been appointed captain of the India A side for the two multi-day matches. Sai Sudharsan will serve as his deputy.

Padikkal will also be Gaikwad’s deputy in the one-day squad.

The multi-day squad includes several young players. Aman Mokhade, Ayush Pandey, Yash Rathod and Shaik Rasheed are among the batters selected.

Kumar Kushagra and N Jagadeesan have been picked as wicketkeepers. Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian add all-round options to the squad.

Tushar Deshpande, Anshul Kamboj, Praful Hinge, Nachiket Bhute and V Vyshak are among the bowling options.

The one-day squad has a strong mix of experienced and young players. Sai Sudharsan, Rajat Patidar and Gaikwad are part of the batting group.

Naman Dhir, Nishant Sindhu, Vipraj Nigam and Arshin Kulkarni provide further all-round options.

Hardik Pandya is the biggest name in the squad. His availability, however, remains subject to fitness clearance.

Prabhsimran Singh and Kumar Kushagra have been selected as wicketkeeping options.

The series will give several players an opportunity to push their case for higher honours. It will also help the selectors assess players ahead of India’s future international assignments.
