The squads for the 2026 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) have been confirmed ahead of the new season. Defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders have retained Pakistan mystery spinner Usman Tariq as they prepare to defend their title. The tournament will begin on August 7, with all franchises finalising their overseas players.
Trinbago have kept the core group that helped them win the CPL trophy in 2025. Usman Tariq was one of the team’s standout performers last season. The Pakistan spinner picked up 20 wickets in 10 matches and finished as the franchise’s highest wicket-taker. He is expected to lead the spin attack once again.
The Knight Riders have also retained England opener Alex Hales and New Zealand batter Colin Munro. South African batter Matthew Breetzke and USA all-rounder Amshi de Silva have joined the squad. Head coach Dwayne Bravo will continue for another season. Caribbean stars Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine and Akeal Hosein also remain part of the team.
Pakistan stars secure deals across CPL franchises
Guyana Amazon Warriors have strengthened their squad by retaining veteran spinner Imran Tahir. They also signed Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi and welcomed back New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips after a six-year gap. Phillips’ availability depends on his recovery from the side injury he suffered during New Zealand’s Test against England at The Oval. Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz has also been retained.
St Kitts & Nevis Patriots have signed Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah to boost their pace attack. The franchise has also added Sri Lanka spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, Afghanistan spinner Waqar Salamkheil and all-rounder Nikhil Chaudhary.
Antigua & Barbuda Falcons have included Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan and left-arm spinner Sufyan Moqim in their squad. Both players are expected to play only seven matches before leaving for the European T20 Premier League. England all-rounder Moeen Ali and Sri Lanka wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Perera will remain available for the Falcons throughout the entire CPL 2026 season.
