Los Angeles Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan celebrated his team’s historic Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026 title win with a heartfelt message on social media. The Bollywood superstar praised the players after they secured their first-ever MLC trophy.
The Knight Riders defeated Washington Freedom by just one run in a thrilling final at Oakland Stadium. It was a memorable season for the franchise as they reached the MLC playoffs for the first time and went on to win the championship.
After the victory, Shah Rukh Khan shared a special message for the team. He praised captain Jason Holder along with experienced stars Sunil Narine and Andre Russell. He also mentioned the famous Knight Riders slogan, “Korbo, Lorbo, Jeetbo,” while congratulating the entire squad on their achievement.
Sunil Narine Stars in Memorable Final Victory
Los Angeles Knight Riders were bowled out for 164 in 19.2 overs after choosing to bat first. Andre Fletcher was the top scorer with a quick 47 off 27 balls.
The bowlers then produced an outstanding performance. The Knight Riders reduced Washington Freedom to 29/3 early in the chase.
Andries Gous and Nikhil Chaudhary added 65 runs to keep Washington in the contest. Obus Pienaar also played a brilliant knock of 53 from just 24 balls and almost guided his side to victory.
However, Shadley van Schalkwyk held his nerve in the final over. He successfully defended 14 runs to seal a dramatic one-run win for Los Angeles Knight Riders.
Sunil Narine was the standout performer in the final. The veteran spinner picked up 3 wickets for just 13 runs in his four overs. He dismissed Mitch Owen, Steve Smith and Rachin Ravindra during the powerplay to put Washington Freedom under pressure.
Narine finished the tournament with 18 wickets in 11 matches at an outstanding economy rate of 4.74. His consistent performances earned him both the Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards, capping off a dream season for the new MLC champions.
