Mitchell Starc set to join Delhi Capitals ahead of IPL 2026 return

Mitchell Starc is set to return to the Indian Premier League 2026. The Australian fast bowler has been cleared of his shoulder and elbow issues. He is expected to travel to India on April 24.

The 36-year-old pacer is likely to join Delhi Capitals soon. He is targeting a comeback match against Rajasthan Royals on May 1. This will depend on his fitness and preparation after arrival.

Starc’s return will be a big boost for the Axar Patel-led side. His experience and pace can strengthen the bowling attack. Delhi Capitals have been waiting for his comeback.

Mitchell Starc eyes comeback after injury break

Starc had a decent IPL 2025 season. He picked up 14 wickets in 11 matches. He also recorded his first five-wicket haul in the tournament. However, his economy rate remained on the higher side.

The left-arm pacer has not played competitive cricket since January. He had a busy schedule earlier. Starc played a key role in The Ashes. He was outstanding in the series and won the Player of the Series award. He took 31 wickets and bowled more than 150 overs in five Tests.

After that, he played in the Big Bash League for the Sydney Sixers. During a match against the Perth Scorchers, he injured his shoulder and elbow while trying to take a catch.

Starc took rest in February. But he felt discomfort when he returned to bowling. This delayed his IPL plans. It also created doubts about his availability.

Now, there is good news for Delhi Capitals. Starc has completed a full week of pain-free bowling sessions in Sydney. He will now focus on regaining full match fitness after reaching India.

If everything goes well, Starc could be ready for the Jaipur clash. His return can play a key role in Delhi’s IPL 2026 campaign.
