CSK youngster Mukesh Choudhary rushes back to home after mother’s sudden demise

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fast bowler Mukesh Choudhary will miss today’s IPL 2026 match against Mumbai Indians after the sad demise of his mother, Prem Devi. She passed away on Tuesday after a long illness. She was undergoing treatment at Mumbai’s Tata Hospital.

The young pacer immediately rushed to his hometown in Bhilwara, Rajasthan, after CSK’s recent game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He performed the last rites of his mother along with his elder brother, Dr. Rajesh Choudhary. This has been a very difficult time for the cricketer and his family.

In a statement, CSK shared an emotional message to support their player.
“The CSK family mourns the passing of Mukesh Choudhary’s mother. We stand with Mukesh and his family, keeping them in our thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time,” CSK posted on X.

Mukesh Choudhary to miss clash vs Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026

Mukesh had only recently returned to the playing XI this season. He played his first match on April 18 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The left-arm pacer impressed in that game. He picked up two important wickets and gave away just 21 runs. He dismissed key batters like Travis Head and Ishan Kishan.

He was included in the team as a replacement for Khaleel Ahmed, who has been ruled out of the season due to injury. Mukesh was retained by CSK for Rs 30 lakh ahead of IPL 2026. His return had strengthened the team’s pace attack.

However, this unfortunate incident has forced him to take a break. Reports suggest that he may stay away from cricket for a short period. The team management is fully supportive of his decision.

CSK legend MS Dhoni has also shown great support. According to reports, Dhoni stayed in touch with Mukesh during this tough time. He even visited his mother at the hospital.

Meanwhile, CSK will now have to adjust their playing XI for the big match at the Wankhede Stadium. Young pacer Gurjapneet Singh is likely to replace Mukesh in the lineup.

This is a big loss for CSK, both on and off the field.
