Pakistan Announces Boycott of IND vs PAK match in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has raised serious questions about Pakistan’s participation in the 10th edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. His comments came after Bangladesh were officially expelled from the tournament by the ICC on January 24.

Bangladesh were removed after refusing to travel to India for their matches. The Tigers had requested the ICC to shift their games outside India. However, the ICC did not accept the request. This decision led to Bangladesh’s exit from the marquee tournament.

Pakistan was the only nation to openly support Bangladesh’s demand for an alternate venue. Following Bangladesh’s removal, Mohsin Naqvi accused the ICC of double standards. He also claimed that India was being favoured in the decision-making process. Naqvi added that the final call on Pakistan’s participation would be taken by the government.

Pakistan Targeting India Matchin T20 World Cup 2026

Despite the strong reaction, it is believed that Pakistan will not boycott the entire tournament. However, reports suggest that Pakistan’s main concern is the high-profile match against India.

Pakistan are placed in Group A. The group also includes India, Namibia, the Netherlands, and the United States of America. The Men in Green are scheduled to begin their T20 World Cup campaign on Saturday, February 7. The opening match will be played in Colombo.

Before the tournament begins, Pakistan will play a single warm-up match. They will face Ireland on Wednesday. This game will serve as their final preparation ahead of the World Cup.

Pakistan will be eager to move past the disappointment of their poor performance in the previous edition of the T20 World Cup. They will take confidence from their recent form. Pakistan recently defeated Australia 3-0 in a home T20 series.

With political uncertainty still looming, Pakistan’s participation remains under close watch as the tournament approaches.
