When is Team India’s next Test Match after West Indies win? India’s updated WTC Rankings

India are off to a strong start in the 2025-2027 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. They have already played seven Test matches, winning four, losing two, and drawing one.

Their latest Test assignment ended on a high. India beat the West Indies 2-0 at home. In the second Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday, October 14, India won by seven wickets. This result helped them stay in the top three of the WTC standings.

With this win, India also closed the gap on second-placed Sri Lanka. The team looks in good shape under their new captain Shubman Gill and head coach Gautam Gambhir.

Earlier this year, Rohit Sharma retired from Test cricket after failing to take India to the WTC final. Shubman Gill then became the new Test captain ahead of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. He started his captaincy journey with a 2-2 series draw against England in a five-match away series.

This was seen as a promising result for a team in transition after the retirements of stars like Rohit, Virat Kohli, and Ravichandran Ashwin. The 2-0 whitewash of the West Indies at home has added more confidence to the young side.

Shubman Gill’s team set for South Africa Test challenge next

India now have some big red-ball series ahead. Their next Test series will be against South Africa at home. But before that, India will travel to Australia for three ODIs and five T20Is. This white-ball tour will end on November 8.

The Test players will have very little break. India will host the Proteas for a two-match Test series starting on November 14. The first Test will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata from November 14 to 18. The second Test will begin on November 22 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

The series will be important for India as they aim to keep climbing the WTC table. A strong performance against South Africa could take them closer to a WTC final spot.
