Yuvraj Singh and Robin Uthappa summoned by ED in 1xBet case

Former Indian cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Robin Uthappa have been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). They will face questioning in connection with an allegedly illegal betting app, 1xBet.

Uthappa has been asked to appear before ED officials on Monday, September 22. He will meet investigators at the ED headquarters in Delhi. Yuvraj Singh has to appear at the same venue the next day, September 23.

A source from the agency confirmed the dates. The summons come just days after ED recorded the statements of other ex-cricketers, Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina. Both Dhawan and Raina were also questioned in the same case.

The ED is investigating possible violations under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Officials believe that the betting platform carried out illegal financial activities in India. 1xBet has already been banned in the country.

Investigators are looking at the role of celebrities in promoting the brand. They believe promotional deals, money trails, and financial transactions linked to the app are key to the case.

Both Yuvraj Singh and Robin Uthappa have appeared in promotional videos for 1xBet. Now, they will have to record their statements with investigators under the PMLA.

Yuvraj Singh made his international debut in 2000. He played 40 Test matches, 304 ODIs, and 58 T20Is. He was India’s star in the 2011 ODI World Cup, winning the Player of the Tournament award. Yuvraj scored 11,778 runs and took 148 wickets across formats. After retirement, he often spends time playing golf with his friends.

His international career did not reach great heights, but he became a strong player in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Uthappa was especially successful during his years at Kolkata Knight Riders. Now, at 39, he appears as a cricket expert in television shows.

The ED’s investigation continues, and both players are expected to cooperate with the agency.
