Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has received a big help from CABS, a local financial institution. CABS has given USD 50,000 to support Zimbabwe’s five first-class provincial teams. This money will help teams playing in the Logan Cup, Pro50 Championship, and domestic T20 competition.
The best part is how the money will be given. CABS is using a direct-to-team model. This means the money goes straight to the teams. It helps in keeping things clear and honest. Teams can plan their budgets better and use the money where it is most needed.
This funding will be used in key areas. It will support coaching, training, talent development, and player welfare. Each province will benefit directly from this support.

Zimbabwe Cricket’s Managing Director, Givemore Makoni, said the support is very important. He thanked CABS for joining hands to help local cricket grow.

“We are grateful to CABS for coming on board as a valued partner in our domestic cricket journey. This kind of corporate support plays an important role in strengthening the game’s foundation and enabling long-term growth,” Makoni said.
CABS Managing Director Mehluli Mpofu also shared his views. He said the support is not just for cricket but also for Zimbabwe’s youth.
“This sponsorship is more than support for cricket—it is a commitment to the dreams of Zimbabwe’s young people. Across the country, there are talented, passionate youths who see sport as a pathway to opportunity, purpose and pride,” Mpofu said.
CABS has a long history with Zimbabwe Cricket. Their support started back in 2004 during T20 competitions. Over the last 20 years, they have quietly supported cricket development. Many young players got their chance because of this support.
This sponsorship comes at a good time for Zimbabwe Cricket. The national team has already played seven Test matches this year. They also hosted a T20 tri-series with South Africa and New Zealand. Next, Zimbabwe will host New Zealand again for two Test matches starting July 30.
