Rishabh Pant Likely to Miss Asia Cup 2025 After Fracture in IND vs ENG 4th Test

India’s star cricketer Rishabh Pant has suffered another painful injury during the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford in Manchester. On Wednesday, while batting in India’s first innings, Pant was hit on his right foot.

The injury took place when he tried to play a reverse sweep shot off Chris Woakes. The ball struck his front foot. He looked in great pain and could not stand properly. Physios rushed to the field, but the pain was too much. Rishabh Pant had to leave the field on a golf cart.

Later, BCCI’s medical team took him to a local hospital. Scan reports confirmed that Rishabh Pant has a fracture in the metatarsal bone of his right foot. Due to this, he has been ruled out of the fourth Test and also the fifth Test at The Oval starting July 31.

Rishabh Pant’s Asia Cup Participation in Doubt

Doctors have said Pant will need six to eight weeks to recover. A video taken outside the team hotel showed him wearing a moon boot. His injury has now raised serious doubts about his participation in the Asia Cup 2025.

The T20 tournament is likely to be held in September or October. Even if Pant recovers by mid-September, match fitness may still be a problem. For a wicketkeeper-batter, footwork and full fitness are very important. Returning from a foot injury is not easy.

This is not Rishabh Pant’s first injury on the England tour. In the third Test at Lord’s, he had hurt his left index finger while keeping. Dhruv Jurel had taken over the wicketkeeping duties at that time. He is again replacing Pant behind the stumps in the fourth Test.

Before his injury, Pant played well. He scored 37 runs off 48 balls. His innings had some brilliant strokes. However, his latest injury is a big setback for Team India ahead of the Asia Cup.

The final schedule of the Asia Cup will be decided in the ACC meeting in Dhaka on July 24. Pant’s participation now depends on how fast he can heal and return to full fitness.
