Nepal Cricket Team to Train in India ahead of T20 World Cup 2026 Qualifiers

India and Nepal are building a stronger friendship through cricket. The Indian government is helping Nepal improve its cricket by giving training support. As part of this, the Nepal Men’s National Cricket Team will train at India’s National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru from August 20 to September 4, 2025. This camp will help them prepare for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Oman this October.

This is the second year in a row Nepal will train at the NCA. They had a similar camp in August 2024. These camps help Nepalese players learn new skills from top Indian coaches.

India and Nepal Strengthen Ties Through Cricket

The cricket partnership between India and Nepal has grown stronger. It includes the Indian government, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). The goal is not just short-term help but long-term growth of cricket at all levels.

This partnership also supports young players. In March 2025, a youth series was held in Nepal between Nepal’s U-19 team and the Delhi U-19 team. In July 2025, three young Nepalese players trained in Bhopal with help from the Indian Embassy.

Women’s cricket in Nepal is also improving. In April and May 2025, Nepal’s women’s team trained in Delhi before the ICC Women’s Asia World Cup Qualifiers. The team reached the finals, showing the training worked well.

India’s support became stronger in January 2024 when India’s Foreign Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, met Nepal’s team. He promised more support to help Nepal grow in cricket.

India has supported Nepal’s cricket in the past too, like giving a team bus in 2013 and cricket gear in 2023. But now the help is more regular and focused, helping Nepal become a stronger cricket nation.
