KKR Eye Arshdeep Singh as Lead Paceman After Punjab Kings Release: Sources

India’s star T20 World Cup bowler Arshdeep Singh is expected to be one of the top targets for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the upcoming IPL 2025 auction, scheduled for November 24-25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. After being released by Punjab Kings, Arshdeep, 24, is set to add significant strength to KKR’s pace attack if the franchise successfully secures him.

Sources reveal that KKR is focused on building an all-Indian pace lineup, making Arshdeep an ideal fit given his outstanding form in recent tournaments. In IPL 2024, he led Punjab Kings as their top wicket-taker with 19 scalps in 14 games, which placed him among the league’s top five bowlers. His success carried over to the T20 World Cup 2024, where he took 17 wickets in eight matches, playing a pivotal role in India’s title-winning run.
Arshdeep Singh deletes Punjab Kings posts; Sparks Trade Rumours in IPL 2025
Arshdeep’s rumored move to KKR gained traction after he deleted many Punjab Kings-related posts on Instagram, leaving only a few old ones. Fans have since speculated that this social media activity hints at an impending shift to Kolkata, where he could lead the pace lineup with retained players like Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, and Rinku Singh.

KKR’s strategic approach for IPL 2025 also involves bolstering their opening pair. With Phil Salt released, they may seek an explosive opener akin to Jos Buttler to complement Sunil Narine. However, the franchise will consider England’s international calendar, including their tour of India, which may affect player availability.
