Veteran West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has announced his retirement from all formats of cricket with immediate effect. The 41-year-old made this decision after being ruled out of the Caribbean Premier League due to injury, marking an early end to what was supposed to be his final appearance in the tournament.
Bravo, known for his remarkable T20 record, holds the title of the highest wicket-taker in T20 Internationals. He had earlier retired from international cricket in 2021 and stepped away from the Indian Premier League (IPL) after the 2022 season, where he transitioned to a coaching role with Chennai Super Kings as their bowling coach.

In a new development, Bravo has joined the Kolkata Knight Riders as their mentor for the upcoming IPL season, replacing Gautam Gambhir in the position.
In an emotional post on Instagram, Bravo reflected on his journey. “Today is the day I say goodbye to the game that has given me everything… I dedicated my entire life to you, and in return, you gave me the life I dreamed of for myself and my family,” he wrote.
“Twenty-one years as a professional cricketer—it’s been an incredible journey… But my body can no longer endure the pain, the breakdowns, and the strain. So, with a heavy heart, I officially announce my retirement from the sport.”
Bravo’s illustrious career has seen him take 631 wickets and score nearly 7,000 runs in 582 T20 matches, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest all-rounders in cricket history.
