The ECB has amended their 15-man squad for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, India. Earlier, Jason Roy was named in the squad, but considering his slow recovery from a recent injury, he has now been replaced by the young attacking batsman, Harry Brook.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With Harry Brook in the squad, England has a strong candidate to bat in the top order in the number 3 or number 4 position, considering Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan will open the innings.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

England\u2019s national selector Luke Wright talked about how the ECB has presented a strong squad to defend their title on the Indian pitches. England will meet the New Zealand Cricket team in the first match of the ODI World Cup on 5 October at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have selected a squad we are confident can go to India and win the World Cup. We are blessed with an incredibly strong group of white-ball players which was underlined by the performances in the series win against a very good New Zealand team. The strength of the group has meant that we have had to make some tough decisions on world-class players with Jason Roy missing out and Harry Brook<\/a> coming into the squad\u201d, said Luke Wright, England, cricket team\u2019s national selector.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“If you ask people to play in an aggressive way, then leave them out as soon as it goes wrong, it sends the wrong message. You can’t just pick a World Cup squad from these four games\u201d, said the England cricket team\u2019s captain Jos Buttler.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
