The two-time reigning Women’s World Cup champion United States booked a 2-0 half-time lead on goals by Alex Morgan in the 16^{th<\/sup> and 23rd<\/sup> minutes respectively and\u00a0Midge Purce\u00a0added another in the 84th<\/sup> minute for the Americans.<\/p>\n}

The 8-team competition at Monterrey, Mexico, serves as the North American qualifier for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand and the 2024 Paris Olympics.<\/p>\n

Group A involves the Americans, Jamaica, Mexico and Haiti whilst Group B includes Canada, Costa Rica, Panama and Trinidad and Tobago.<\/p>\n

The 2 top teams in each group will proceed to the semi-finals and next year’s Women’s World Cup with third-place group teams augmenting to next February’s global playoff for 3 final Women’s World Cup spots.<\/p>\n

The CONCACAF champion will advance to the Paris Olympics whilst the runner-up and third-place teams will compete in a playoff next year to determine another 2024 spot in France.<\/p>\n
