The Gabon federation stated, Striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has retired from international soccer.<\/p>\n

The federation stated it got a letter from the Barcelona striker and Gabon skipper on Tuesday notifying it of his decision, following playing for the national team for 13 years.<\/p>\n

The Gabon federation published parts of Aubameyang\u2019s letter, where he greeted the Gabonese people, his coaches, teammates and his father, who also played for Gabon in the era of 1980s and 90s.<\/p>\n

Aubameyang, 32, played 72 times for Gabon and is his nation\u2019s all-time leading scorer with 30 goals.<\/p>\n

With Aubameyang at the heart of the team, Gabon reached the quarterfinals of the 2012 African Cup of Nations to equal its finest performance in international soccer.<\/p>\n
