West Indies produced a record-breaking batting display against India in the second ODI at Guwahati on September 30, 2026. The visitors posted 405/7 in their 50 overs.
It was the highest ODI total in West Indies history. It was also the first time the Caribbean side crossed the 400-run mark in an ODI. India now need 406 runs to win the match and take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
West Indies’ three-centurion show
John Campbell gave West Indies a strong start at the top of the order. He scored 101 runs from just 66 balls. Campbell reached his century from 65 deliveries before being dismissed on the following ball.
Shai Hope then played a key role in building the innings. The West Indies captain scored 104 from 90 balls. He helped the visitors maintain a strong scoring rate through the middle overs.
Amir Jangoo provided the biggest acceleration. He smashed 114 runs from 77 balls. His aggressive knock helped West Indies push towards the 400-run mark.
Hope and Jangoo added 182 runs for the third wicket. Their partnership gave West Indies the platform to finish with a huge total.
The three centuries also created a major piece of West Indies ODI history. Campbell, Hope and Jangoo became the first three West Indies batters to score centuries in the same ODI innings.
India now face a huge chase of 406 runs. A successful chase would be one of the highest successful run chases in ODI history.
India won the first ODI on September 27 and currently lead the series 1-0. If India complete the chase, they will seal the three-match series.
However, a West Indies victory would level the series at 1-1. The third ODI would then become the series decider.
