Bangladesh pacer Tanzim Sakib has been fined 15% of his match fees by the International Cricket Council (ICC) during the team’s recent match against Nepal. The fine was imposed for breaching the ICC code of conduct during the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, held in the United States of America and the West Indies.
Sakib was found in violating the Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which addresses ‘inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator) during an International Match.’ The charge was leveled by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Sam Nogajski, along with third and fourth umpires Jayaraman Madanagopal and Kumar Dharmasena.
The incident occurred during the third over of the second innings in the 37th match of the T20 World Cup 2024. Sakib engaged in an altercation with Nepal skipper Rohit Paudel and ultimately bowled a wicket-maiden over, dismissing Kushal Bhurtel and Anil Sah.
Following the match, Sakib accepted the offense and the accompanying fine, making a formal hearing unnecessary.
