Virat Kohli made history and became the first batsman to score 50 one day international centuries during the match against New Zealand. The former captain surpassed the previous record holder Sachin Tendulkar who had scored 49 ODI centuries. Virat shattered this record during the first semi-final match of the ICC cricket World Cup 2023.

India beat New Zealand by 70 runs and qualified for the final of the World Cup after 12 years. Virat Kohli scored 117 runs off 113 balls with a strike rate of 103.54. Virat expressed his gratitude to his idol Sachin Tendulkar for inspiring him throughout his career.

India recently defeated South Africa by 243 runs in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and the former captain Virat Kohli lead the team towards the victory as he scored yet another century. Virat scored 101 runs off 121 deliveries and embarked on a new milestone as he equalled Sachin Tendulkar‘s record of most number of ODI centuries in the world.

Virat scored his 49th ODI century against South Africa in the ODI World Cup 2023. Sachin Tendulkar expressed his happiness for his disciple, and asked Virat to break his record in the upcoming matches of the World Cup 2023.

Sachin tweeted, “Well played, Virat. It took me 365 days to go from 49 to 50 earlier this year. I hope you go from 49 to 50 and break my record in the next few days. Congratulations!!”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid down the foundation stone for the international cricket stadium, Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. The Varanasi Stadium will be the third international cricket stadium in UP after Lucknow and Kanpur. As revealed by the state’s chief minister, the project is expected to be budgeted at ₹451 crores.

Former cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, and Dilip Vengsarkar also marked their presence at the event. Sachin Tendulkar also gave Prime Minister Narendra Modi an Indian cricket team jersey no.1 with his name “NAMO”.

The UP government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has acquired the stadium’s land for ₹121 crores, and the BCCI will spend ₹331 crores on the construction of the stadium that can seat approximately 30,000 spectators.
