Tallying up ducks in cricket, especially in the dynamic format of T20 matches like the IPL, can be quite telling of a player’s performance under pressure. It’s that dreaded moment when a batsman departs without a single run to their name. Let’s delve into the history of IPL ducks and the players who’ve faced this ignominious fate the most.

At the forefront sits Dinesh Karthik, with an impressive 17 ducks to his name across 221 innings. Following closely is Rohit Sharma, a stalwart of Mumbai’s campaigns, notching up 16 ducks in his 238 innings. Together, they’ve amassed a formidable 6211 runs at an average of 29.57, showcasing resilience despite early setbacks.

Sharing the third spot with 15 ducks apiece are Mandeep Singh and Sunil Narine, two players whose IPL journeys have been sprinkled with both triumphs and challenges. Next in line, tied with 14 ducks each, are Ambati Rayudu, Manish Pandey, and Glenn Maxwell. Rayudu’s pivotal role in CSK’s 2018 victory stands out, reflecting his impactful presence in the league.

Further down the list, with 13 ducks each, are a quintet of players including Harbhajan Singh, Parthiv Patel, Ajinkya Rahane, Rashid Khan, and Piyush Chawla. Rahane’s IPL legacy spans 171 games, during which he’s amassed 4373 runs with a commendable strike rate and average. Parthiv Patel, who recently bid adieu to the sport, leaves behind a legacy of consistent performances for RCB.

Gautam Gambhir, the former KKR captain, occupies the sixth position with 12 ducks, a statistic that belies his overall impact on the league. Despite facing setbacks, Gambhir’s leadership led KKR to IPL victories in 2012 and 2014, cementing his status as a cricketing stalwart.

Here’s a snapshot of the top duck getters in IPL history:

Most Ducks in IPL History:

Player Innings Ducks
Dinesh Karthik 221 17

Harbhajan Singh 90 13
Parthiv Patel 137 13
Rashid Khan 51 13
Ajinkya Rahane 158 13

These statistics not only highlight the challenges faced by batsmen in the IPL but also underscore the resilience and determination required to overcome them, making every run scored a testament to skill and perseverance.

I would love to see Ajinkya Rahane in the ODI World Cup squad: Sreesanth https://sportzoclock.com/i-would-love-to-see-ajinkya-rahane-in-the-odi-world-cup-squad-says-sreesanth/ https://sportzoclock.com/i-would-love-to-see-ajinkya-rahane-in-the-odi-world-cup-squad-says-sreesanth/#respond Fri, 05 May 2023 09:50:56 +0000 https://sportzoclock.com/?p=8831 Team India’s former fast bowler S Sreesanth has given a shocking response to the leading batsman Ajinkya Rahane. He has said that Ajinkya Rahane should be included in India’s ODI team before the ODI World Cup. According to Sreesanth, Ajinkya Rahane can fit very well in the middle order.

Ajinkya Rahane has been running out of India’s limited overs team for many years. He last played an ODI for India in the year 2018 on the South Africa tour. At the same time, he played the last T20 for Team India in 2016. Rahane is now only a part of the Test team. Although, looking at the way his performance has been this IPL season for Chennai Super Kings, it can be said that he still has a lot of stamina for ODIs and T20s.

He has batted tremendously this IPL season and the most important thing is that his strike rate has been very good. He has been included in the Indian team for the World Test Championship but Sreesanth believes that Rahane should be included in the ODI team as well. During a conversation on Star Sports, Sreesanth said,

“I am very confident he will do well in the World Test Championship final. But he shouldn’t look at by that performance. He should be given the opportunity (ODI). Let’s see if there are other tournaments, if he is given the white-ball cricket back to him, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him going at No. 4 and winning matches for the country”
