Sanju Samson not a bad option to replace Suryakumar Yadav for 3rd ODI- Wasim Jaffer

T20’s number one batsman Suryakumar Yadav became the victim of the golden duck in the second consecutive ODI. He was dismissed LBW by Mitchell Starc on a score of zero in the second ODI at Vizag. This is the second time in the 3 match ODI series when Surya got out without opening an account.

After the poor performances of Surya, many legends are asking him to improve his game. At the same time, former player Wasim Jaffer has once again demanded to give a chance to Sanju Samson in his place. According to Jaffer, Suryakumar Yadav is a good player but if he continues to perform like this, replacing him with Sanju would not be a bad option.

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Wasim Jaffer said – “We can sympathize with Suryakumar Yadav as the first ball he faced was 145 clicks. There is no doubt that it is challenging when a left-arm seamer tries to bring the ball back in. Still, he should have anticipated that when Mitchell Starc bowls, he will attack the stumps and swing the ball.”

He further said that – “We have to see whether the management stays with him in the third ODI otherwise giving chance to Sanju Samson is not a bad option as he has done well when given a chance and he is a good player.”

Team India’s star player Sanju Samson has played only 11 ODIs for India so far, although he has a better record in this. He has scored 330 runs for the team at an average of 66 including two half-centuries. One of these half-centuries came against New Zealand in 2022 in a difficult situation. In such a situation, he can prove to be a strong player for India.
