Following the thrilling victory over Bangladesh, Afghanistan’s captain Rashid Khan reminisced about his conversation with Lara and vowed to honor the veteran’s faith in his team. During the post-match presentation, Rashid expressed his elation and pride in his squad’s achievement.

“It’s like a dream for us to be in the semifinals,” Rashid said. “Our journey began with a strong belief after we beat New Zealand. This accomplishment is beyond words. Everyone back home is ecstatic. Brian Lara was the one who saw us as semifinalists, and we proved him right. At the welcome party before the tournament, I promised him, ‘We won’t let you down. We’ll make it through and prove you’re right.’ I’m extremely proud of this team.”

“In T20s, having the right skills makes you more effective. Our openers have given us strong starts, making it easier for us spinners to pressure the batsmen. I’m thrilled with how the team has performed. The whole country will be proud. We took responsibility and delivered. Now, we need to keep it simple and enjoy the big occasion”, he continued.
