PBKS End Association with Sanjay Bangar Ahead of IPL 2025: Reports

According to recent reports, Punjab Kings (PBKS) have parted ways with their head coach, Sanjay Bangar, ahead of the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Bangar, who was appointed as the team’s head coach before IPL 2023, is no longer part of the franchise’s coaching setup, marking the end of a brief yet impactful stint.

PBKS struggled with consistency during Bangar’s tenure, missing out on a playoff spot in both IPL 2023 and 2024. Despite the efforts to build a solid team, the franchise couldn’t translate individual performances into consistent results. As the team gears up for IPL 2025, it appears that PBKS management has decided to take a new direction by making changes to their coaching staff.

PBKS Looks For New Coaching Staff Ahead of IPL 2025

Reports suggest that the decision to part ways was mutual, with Bangar looking to explore other opportunities in cricket coaching. Bangar’s coaching expertise is highly respected, having previously served as India’s batting coach and as head coach of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2022.

During his time with PBKS, Bangar was credited with helping young players, including the likes of Shahrukh Khan and Prabhsimran Singh, develop their batting skills. However, the team’s overall performance fell short of expectations, leading to the decision to part ways.

As of now, there is no official announcement from Punjab Kings regarding a replacement for Sanjay Bangar. The team is expected to make an official statement soon, as they begin preparations for the next IPL season. Fans will be keen to see how PBKS reshapes its coaching structure in a bid to improve its fortunes in the upcoming IPL 2025.
