Parthiv Patel hopes Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stays quiet in GT vs RR Qualifier 2

Gujarat Titans (GT) assistant coach Parthiv Patel praised young Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi ahead of the IPL 2026 Qualifier 2 clash on Friday, May 29. The important match will take place at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur.

Sooryavanshi has impressed everyone this season with his fearless batting. The 15-year-old has become one of the biggest talking points of the tournament. However, Patel said people should stop focusing on the youngster’s age.

“The way he has been batting, it feels very good to see it. We should not be talking about his age. I think that’s something we need to put an end to. He’s been a phenomenal talent, just the way he has been playing, and it’s great to see him. From the opposition’s point of view, we just hope that he doesn’t get one tomorrow,” said Parthiv during the pre-match press conference.

GT have plans ready for Sooryavanshi

Patel also said that Gujarat Titans have made plans to stop the dangerous left-hander. However, he refused to reveal the details before the big game.

“Sir, I am not a broadcaster and I am not sitting in the pre-show of Star Sports. So, I won’t be able to tell you what plans we have made. But, I am very happy with the way he is batting,” Patel said.

“Hopefully, we will try and get him out soon. Like everyone else, we also have our plans in place. We have seen the videos, like everyone else. Hopefully, we will be able to execute our plans. But, I won’t be able to tell what our plans are. You will get to know it on the ground,” he added.

Interestingly, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins had earlier revealed that his team had several plans ready for Sooryavanshi in the Eliminator. But none of them worked as the youngster smashed 97 runs from just 29 balls and helped Rajasthan Royals win by 47 runs.
