Mumbai Indians Retain Core Players for IPL 2025; Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah Lead the Squad

Mumbai Indians (MI), the joint-most successful team in IPL history, have finalized their list of retained and released players ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. The franchise has opted to retain its core group of players, ensuring a solid foundation for the upcoming season.

Captain Hardik Pandya, star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, and India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav have all been retained for IPL 2025. In addition, Rohit Sharma, who led MI to success in the previous seasons, will continue as the captain in IPL 2025. These four players, dubbed MI’s “fab four,” will be crucial for the team’s success.

Bumrah has received the highest retention amount at INR 18 crore, followed by Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya, each earning INR 16.35 crore. Rohit Sharma, the team’s long-standing leader, will return for INR 16.3 crore, while Tilak Varma, one of the young stars, has been retained for INR 8 crore.

MI’s strategy also involved releasing some big names, including wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan and pacer Gerald Coetzee, among others. This move was necessary due to retention limitations, as the team prioritized securing their key players within their INR 75 crore budget.

With INR 45 crore remaining in their purse, Mumbai Indians will now turn to the IPL 2025 auction to strengthen their squad further, aiming for a return to the top and to add another title to their collection.

Players Retained by Mumbai Indians for IPL 2025:
1. Jasprit Bumrah (Rs 18 crore)
2. Suryakumar Yadav (Rs 16.35 crore)
3. Hardik Pandya (Rs 16.35 crore)
4. Rohit Sharma (Rs 16.30 crore)
5. Tilak Varma (Rs 8 crore)
