Kolkata Knight Riders crush Royal Challengers Bangalore by 9 wickets

Kolkata Knight Riders crush Royal Challengers Bangalore with an absolute clinical of a performance. Their all-round effort gave RCB absolutely no chance in the match. Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first but that was the only positive from the game for Bangalore as they were crushed in their first game post the Covid break.

The Kolkata bowlers were brilliant and gave away nothing. They kept chipping away wickets at regular intervals. Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy justified his selection in the T20 World cup as he claimed 3 wickets giving away only 13 runs in his 4 overs. The mighty DreRuss (Andre Russell) too claimed 3 wickets as the RCB batting lineup was dismantled and exposed. RCB managed to get a meagre 92 runs on board as the KKR bowlers were all over them from ball 1.

In the second innings, Kolkata came out blazing as Shubman Gill and debutant Venkatesh Iyer played some beautiful cricket. They gave absolutely no chance to the RC bowlers in their partnership of 82 runs. Bangalore could produce only 1 wicket as KKR totally ran away with the game.

This was KKR’s 200th IPL game along with Virat Kohli’s 200th IPL game and it wasn’t a good day for Kohli as this turned out to become KKR’s biggest win and RCB’s biggest defeat in terms of balls to spare (60 balls).

With this win, KKR rose to the fifth spot in the points table with three wins and six points off their 8 games this season. RCB is still at the third place in the points tally and looking good to qualify this year with six more games in their hand.

Varun Chakravarthy was awarded the man of the match award for his magnificent spell of 3/13 in 4 overs.
