Kolkata Knight Riders beat Delhi Capitals by 3 wickets in a low scoring contest

Kolkata Knight Riders beat Delhi Capitals by 3 wickets in this low-scoring encounter. Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and elected to field first in this low-scoring contest at the Sharjah stadium. The pitch was quite slow and assisted the bowlers immensely.

The absence of Prithvi Shaw due to an injury provided Steven Smith an opportunity as an opener. Playing his first game in the second phase, he along with Shikhar Dhawan gave Delhi Capitals a decent start. The wicket of Shikhar Dhawan opened up the game as the KKR bowlers made total use of the slow track to dominate the DC batsmen. Ferguson, Narine, and Venkatesh Iyer claimed 2 wickets each as they completely choked the batsmen. They hardly gave anything away as the batsmen were struggling on this tough pitch. Pant and Smith scored 39 runs each as Delhi Capitals could reach the score of 127 runs only in their 20 overs.

In the second innings, the KKR openers Iyer and Gill gave them a solid start. Kolkata Knight Riders scored 44 runs in the powerplay losing 2 wickets. The Delhi bowlers brought them back into the game after picking up quick wickets of Gill and captain Morgan in back-to-back overs. Sunil Narine’s quickfire down the order took the game away from Delhi in a flash. He scored 21 runs off 10 balls. Nitish Rana played a mature knock and took his team home as Kolkata Knight Riders get their 3rd win in 4 games as they move to 10 points while Delhi Capitals are still at 16 points.
