“He’s Got All the Skill in the World” – Nathan Lyon on Bowling to Rishabh Pant Ahead of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

India and Australia are gearing up for an intense five-match Test series as part of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-2025 cycle. The much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 will kick off on November 22, with India eyeing a historic hat-trick of series wins after their triumphs on the last two tours of Australia.

Among the thrilling matchups expected in this series, one of the most exciting will be the face-off between India’s attacking wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant and Australia’s bowling unit. Pant, who played a pivotal role in India’s historic victory in Australia during the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, is set to face off against the Aussies again, with fans eager to see him in action.

‘He’s got all the skill in the world’ – Nathan Lyon on Rishabh Pant

Reflecting on this upcoming challenge, Australia’s veteran spinner Nathan Lyon spoke about the difficulties of bowling to a player like Pant. “You’re bowling against someone like Rishabh Pant, who is electric. He’s got all the skill in the world. As a bowler, your room for error is so small. So you’ve got to be good,” Lyon shared in a conversation with Star Sports.

Lyon went on to explain the challenge of keeping Pant contained. “The challenge is that I can provide the batters and try and keep someone like Rishabh in his crease, and hopefully bring a couple of chances along the way,” he added.

Pant has made an impressive comeback to the Indian side after a life-threatening accident following the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Recently, Pant smashed a century (109 runs) in India’s first Test against Bangladesh, helping the team secure a massive 242-run victory. His form will undoubtedly be key for India as they look to continue their dominance over Australia on their soil.
