Gujarat Titans Announce Retention List for IPL 2025: Shubman Gill to Lead, Rashid Khan Retained

Titans prepare for a fresh start in IPL 2025, keeping core players while releasing veterans.

The Gujarat Titans (GT) have revealed their IPL 2025 retention list, signaling strategic changes to regain momentum after a challenging 2024 season. Despite winning the title in their debut IPL season under Hardik Pandya, GT struggled last year following Pandya’s move to Mumbai Indians, finishing in a disappointing eighth position.

Shubman Gill, retained for Rs 16.5 crore, will continue as captain, with the management banking on his batting prowess to lead the franchise to a comeback season. GT’s star all-rounder Rashid Khan, retained for Rs 18 crore, remains a vital part of their core, while young talents Sai Sudharsan (Rs 8.5 crore) and uncapped players Rahul Tewatia and Shah Rukh Khan (both Rs 4 crore) round out the retained lineup.

One of the more notable releases is experienced wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha, leaving GT in need of a strong wicketkeeper-batsman option. GT also released key players like David Miller, Mohammed Shami, and Kane Williamson, likely opening space for younger and dynamic players in the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction.

With Rs 69 crore available in their auction purse and one Right to Match (RTM) card, GT is in a strong position to fill key gaps, especially in their bowling and wicketkeeping departments. The Titans’ management aims to create a balanced squad that can replicate the success of their debut season and bring home a second IPL title.

Players Retained by Gujarat Titans for IPL 2025:
1. Rashid Khan (Rs 18 crore)
2. Shubman Gill (Rs 16.5 crore)
3. Sai Sudharsan (Rs 8.5 crore)
4. Rahul Tewatia (Rs 4 crore, Uncapped)
5. Shah Rukh Khan (Rs 4 crore, Uncapped)
