Red Bull are penalized $7 million for breaking Formula One’s budget rules, however won’t have points subtracted from their 2021 total, the sport’s governing body publicized on Friday.

Red Bull also will be penalized with a 10% reduction in allowable aerodynamic research.

The FIA confirmed the team, that carried Max Verstappen to a contentious championship triumph over Lewis Hamilton last year, overspent by 1.86 million euros ($2.15 million) in 2021.

The 10% cut is within the time they’ll spend using their wind tunnel or computational fluid dynamics to redesign their automobile.

The penalty comes once Red Bull acknowledged they were guilty and entered into a alleged “accepted breach agreement” with the FIA
