The Indian football team registered a thrilling knockout match on Saturday night after they successfully beat Lebanon by 4-2 to qualify for the SAFF ( South Asian Football Federation Championship) Championship final game.
The Indian football team will play their final match for the 13th time and ninth consecutive time against Kuwait on 4 July 2023, Tuesday. Kuwait recently qualified for the final game of the SAFF championship after beating Bangladesh by a score of 1-0.
The semifinal match between the Indian football team and the Lebanon football team went on till the penalties as both the teams remained without goals during the game of 90 minutes and the extra time.

India defeats Lebanon by 4-2 in Penalty Shootouts
The Indian football team hit four goals in the penalties to strike the win as the team’s goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu made excellent saves and Lebanon could only manage to strike two goals in the shootouts.
India’s legendary footballer Sunil Chhetri hit the goal for the Indian football team in the penalties followed by goals from Anwar Ali, Mahesh Singh and Udanta Singh. Walid Shour and Mohammad Sadek were the only players to hit goals for Lebanon.

This match registered the Indian football team’s second victory over Lebanon in recent months as they defeated the latter in the intercontinental cup as well during the team’s match in Odisha.
