The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the inclusion of Jordan Cox and Rehan Ahmed in the white-ball squad for the upcoming tour of the West Indies. The tour, starting on October 31, will feature three ODIs followed by five T20Is across various venues in the Caribbean.
Both Cox and Ahmed are currently in Pakistan for England’s Test series. Jordan Cox will return to England after the first day of the Test series decider in Rawalpindi, ahead of the team’s departure for Antigua on October 28. Rehan Ahmed, who is part of the playing XI for the final Test against Pakistan, is expected to miss the first ODI but will join the squad later.
Jordan Cox, the Essex wicketkeeper-batter, recently made his international debut in the T20 series against Australia and is now set to earn his first ODI cap during the West Indies series. He will serve as the frontline wicketkeeper in Jos Buttler’s absence. Buttler, England’s regular white-ball captain, is currently recovering from a calf injury and will miss the entire ODI series.
Rehan Ahmed, a young all-rounder, will be part of England’s spin attack alongside Adil Rashid and Jafer Chohan in the Liam Livingstone-led ODI squad. Ahmed is expected to play a crucial role in the spin department.
England’s white-ball squads for the West Indies tour promise a blend of youth and experience, with the likes of Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, and Phil Salt alongside newcomers Cox and Ahmed.
