Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) latest addition, Shreyas Gopal, stole the spotlight in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) on Tuesday with a remarkable hat-trick during Karnataka’s clash against Baroda in Indore. The 31-year-old leg-spinner displayed his magic, reinforcing his credentials ahead of the IPL 2025 season.
Defending a competitive 170-run target, Shreyas turned the tide with a brilliant spell, dismissing opener Shashwat Rawat before sending the Pandya brothers, Krunal and Hardik, back to the pavilion on successive deliveries. He capped off his memorable performance by claiming Bhanu Pania, who was caught by Mayank Agarwal, ending with exceptional figures of 4/25.
Despite Shreyas’ heroics, Baroda secured victory, chasing down the target in 18.5 overs, courtesy of stellar knocks by Shashwat Rawat (63 off 37) and Bhanu Pania (42 off 24).
