On Friday Indian men’s room doubles pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy surprised high seeds Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi of Japan in straight games to enter the semifinals of the French Open badminton game tournament.
Seeded 7th within the Super 750 event, Rankireddy and Shetty won 21-12 21-16 in a quaterfinal match that lasted forty nine minutes.
The Indian pair can face the Korean duo of Choi Sol Gyu and Kim Won ho within the semifinals.
On Thursday Rankireddy and Shetty are the sole Indians left within the fray within the tournament.
Kidambi Srikanth, HS Prannoy and Sameer Verma lost within the men’s singles pre quarterfinals.
