China to host World Tour finals

Since 2019 in December China can host its initial international badminton tournament, the badminton World Federation (BWF) stated on Thursday, once 2 years of disruptions caused by COVID.

From December 14-18 the season-ending World Tour Finals, scheduled for Guangzhou, can feature the highest eight players and pairs in every class with a prize pool of $1.5 million, the largest the event has ever offered, the BWF stated.

Thomas Lund Secretary General of  BWF state the finals were one in all the body’s most profitable tournaments and thanked the Chinese government for extending the invite.

November’s Hong Kong Open had already been off for the third straight year thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic and sophisticated quarantine measures.

The World Tour Finals were settled in 2020 and 2021 thanks to Chinese COVID restrictions China considerably tightened its COVID-19 policies this year to contain the unfold of the extremely transmissible letter variant.
