Legendary Caribbean cricketer Brian Lara has shared his views on Virat Kohli’s current form in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Kohli, a prominent Indian batter, has struggled to find his rhythm, scoring only five runs in the initial group stage matches. Additionally, his opportunity to bat against Canada was cut short due to a rain-abandoned match.
In India’s first match of the Super 8s stage, Kohli managed to score 24 runs off 24 balls, maintaining a strike rate of 100. Despite these modest figures, Lara believes Kohli’s time on the pitch is crucial for regaining form.

Speaking to Star Sports, Lara emphasized the importance of Kohli’s presence at the crease. “24 off 24 might not seem impressive, but spending time on the field is vital. India has taken a significant step towards winning this trophy. I believe Kohli will improve as he adapts to the Caribbean conditions. In Antigua, he’ll dig in and accumulate runs,” Lara stated.
Lara further expressed confidence in Kohli’s ability to bounce back and urged the Indian team management to remain patient. He highlighted that Kohli’s performance will improve as the tournament progresses and more matches are played.
“When he finds his groove, it’ll be a different story. We need to be patient with him. There are still many games left in this World Cup, and I’m confident we’ll see Kohli’s brilliance soon,” Lara added.
India will play the next match of T20 World Cup 2024 against Bangladesh on June 22 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.
