The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a 15-member squad for the Women’s Asia Cup 2024. Led by Harmanpreet Kaur the BCCI has named Smriti Mandhana as the vice-captain of the team. The tournament is scheduled to be held in Dambulla, Sri Lanka from July 19.
The squad includes key players such as Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, and Deepti Sharma. Richa Ghosh will be the primary wicketkeeper of the team, supported by an experienced bowling lineup featuring Renuka Thakur and Radha Yadav.
India will kick off their campaign against Pakistan on July 19, followed by matches against UAE and Nepal. A high-stakes game against Pakistan is set for July 19. The format will see six teams competing, with the top four advancing to the semi-finals.
This tournament serves as a crucial platform for the Indian team to assert their dominance in the continent, especially following their strong performances in recent series against South Africa. The squad’s composition reflects a blend of seasoned players and promising talent, aimed at securing the title.
