The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finalised a new title sponsorship deal with Muthoot Fincorp for the next two home seasons of Indian cricket.
The agreement comes just days before India begin their home white-ball schedule against the West Indies. The Caribbean side will play three ODIs and five T20Is in India. The first ODI will be played on September 27 at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.
Reports suggest the BCCI has agreed on a base price of INR 4.85 crore per match. The higher floor price reportedly limited interest from other potential bidders.
Which India stars are missing from the ODI squad?
India will begin the ODI series on September 27. The second ODI is scheduled for September 30, while the third match will take place on October 3.
Shubman Gill will lead the ODI team. KL Rahul has been named his deputy. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are also back in the ODI squad.
However, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah are not part of the ODI team. The four players are committed to the Asian Games.
Their absence has opened opportunities for new players. Auqib Nabi and Naman Dhir have received their first call-ups to the 15-member ODI squad.
Ravindra Jadeja has also returned to the ODI setup. Ruturaj Gaikwad, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel are among the other players selected.
Rishabh Pant has been left out of both white-ball squads for the West Indies series.
Shreyas Iyer will captain India in the five-match T20I series. Tilak Varma will be his deputy. The T20I matches will be played between October 6 and October 17.
The T20I squad includes Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube and Washington Sundar. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Kuldeep Yadav are the only players selected in both squads.
The new sponsorship deal will cover India’s upcoming home seasons as the team begins another busy white-ball schedule.
