Shocking: India Loses T20I Series against West Indies after a Decade

Indian cricket team recently lost their first five match T20I series against West Indies in a decade under the leadership of Hardik Pandya. Indian team equalled the score of 2-2 with West Indies after the four T20I matches and gave the fans hope to seal the bilateral series with a dominating win across all the formats, however, the team lost its momentum and West Indies managed to win the fifth T20 game.

Initially at the beginning of the series, when Hardik Pandya was asked by the former Trinidad cricketer there in Ganga the Indian team has never lost a series against West Indies in West Indies, and what if he becomes the first captain to lose, he replied, “ it’s okay to be unique”, which was highly criticised by the Indian cricket fans.

Now after losing the series, Hardik Pandya and the team management are optimistic of performing well in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024, which will be hosted by West Indies in the USA in June 2024.

Hardik Pandya on India’s loss against West Indies

“Losing is good at times. On the positive side, we have done a lot of learning. The boys showed character. Credit to them. They kept coming and tried something new. It is part of the process. It is what I feel at that moment. If I see a situation, I generally prefer something that comes to mind”, said Hardik Pandya.

“No rocket science, just my gut feel. Every youngster who is coming in, is showing character. I can’t be more happy when I see a youngster come in and put his hand up. A big thank you to everyone. The T20 World Cup will be here. There would be bigger number then”, added Hardik Pandya

Rahul Dravid on ICC T20 World Cup 2024

“Finding depth in our batting is an area that we are trying to address and do as best as we possibly can. But that’s certainly an area that we need to look at, how we can not weaken our bowling attack but have a certain depth in our batting that can go deeper. As the game is going on, the scores are becoming bigger and bigger,” said Rahul Dravid.

“We tried to do a few things (in the ODI series) with the World Cup and the Asia Cup coming up. The goals of that (ODI series) were slightly different from what we wanted to achieve, and glad there were some important lessons from that one-day series and got the right result,” added Rahul Dravid.
