The ICC has given a heads-up to all the cricket-playing nations as they launch the tournament’s trophy tour in the most unique style. The ICC has released the Cricket World Cup 2023 Trophy 12,000 feet above the Earth before making it land in the world’s biggest cricket stadium and the host of the final match of the tournament, the Narendra Modi Stadium (popularly known as Motera Stadium), Ahmedabad.
The trophy was attached to a bespoke stratospheric balloon. The 4K cameras captured the spectacular kickstart to the tournament on the surface of the Earth as the balloon crossed 99.5% of the Earth’s atmosphere, at the temperature of -65°C.

In the recent press release by ICC, Geoff Allardice talked about the sport having billions of fans and the trophy tour being a big milestone for the ICC. He also added that the council wanted to allow the fans to get close to the famous trophy which has been held by legendary cricket players.

“The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour is an important milestone in the countdown to what will be the biggest ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup ever. This Tour will see the iconic silverware meet heads of state, launch community initiatives, and support cricket development programs in addition to visiting some of the most iconic landmarks around the globe”, said ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice about launching the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 Trophy 12000 feet above the Earth.
“Cricket has more than a billion fans, and we want to give as many people as possible the opportunity to get up close to this famous trophy that has been held aloft by some of the greatest legends of our sport”, added ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice in the Press Release.
Jay Shah on ICC Cricket World Cup 2023
In a recent conversation, Jay Shah talked about how cricket ties a large country like India together and how the BCCI is excited to host the biggest cricket tournament in the world.
