Virat Kohli Surpasses Sachin Tendulkar to Set New Record Against SENA Nations

Virat Kohli has surpassed Sachin Tendulkar to become the batter with the most fifty-plus scores against SENA nations in international cricket. The Indian batting star now has 134 such scores against South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia across all formats. He moved past Tendulkar, who finished his career with 133 fifty-plus scores against these four nations.

Kohli has achieved this milestone in 320 matches. His tally includes 45 centuries and 89 half-centuries. Tendulkar recorded 50 centuries and 83 half-centuries in 328 matches against SENA opponents. West Indies legend Brian Lara occupies third place with 100 fifty-plus scores. Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara follows with 97, while Australia’s Ricky Ponting has 91.

Kohli’s Remarkable ODI Record Against All Four SENA Nations

Kohli’s consistency in ODI cricket against SENA teams makes this achievement even more impressive. He is the only batter in history to average more than 50 against all four nations in the format.

The 37-year-old averages 50.03 against Australia and 51.53 against New Zealand. His average against England stands at 51.48. However, his numbers against South Africa are even more impressive, with an average of 76.38.

Kohli has also enjoyed considerable success against New Zealand across formats. He has scored 3,241 international runs against the Black Caps. His recent half-century against them was his 80th ODI fifty and 11th against New Zealand.

Apart from his batting numbers, Kohli has also won Player of the Series awards against three SENA nations. He has received the honour in bilateral series against Australia, England and South Africa.

New Zealand remains the only SENA opponent against which he is yet to win a Player of the Series award. Despite this, his overall record against the four nations highlights his remarkable consistency and dominance in international cricket.
