Arshdeep Singh Joins Javagal Srinath and Mohammed Shami in Elite List With 4-Wicket Haul

Arshdeep Singh produced an impressive bowling performance in the first ODI between India and New Zealand at Eden Park in Auckland on November 4, 2026. The left-arm pacer picked up four wickets in his 10 overs and finished with figures of 4/70. His effort helped India bowl out New Zealand for 185 runs in the series opener.

With this performance, Arshdeep became only the third Indian fast bowler to claim a four-wicket haul in an ODI on New Zealand soil. He joined former Indian pacers Javagal Srinath and Mohammed Shami in the elite list.

Arshdeep dismissed Glenn Phillips to complete his fourth wicket of the innings. New Zealand were struggling at 146/9 at that stage. Gurnoor Brar also impressed with three wickets, while Anshul Kamboj picked up two scalps.

Arshdeep Ranks Fourth Among Indian Pacers in New Zealand

Arshdeep’s figures of 4/70 are the fourth-best bowling figures by an Indian fast bowler in ODIs played in New Zealand.

Javagal Srinath holds the top position with his 4/23 against New Zealand in Auckland in 2003. He also recorded figures of 4/52 in Napier. Mohammed Shami occupies the third position with his 4/55 performance in Napier in 2014.

Arshdeep’s achievement is significant considering the challenges Indian fast bowlers have faced in New Zealand conditions. His performance has added another memorable spell to India’s ODI bowling history in the country.

The 27-year-old also came close to recording his second five-wicket haul in ODI cricket. However, he finished one wicket short of the milestone.

Arshdeep bowled his full quota of 10 overs in the match. His performance also highlighted the confidence shown in him by the Indian team management.

The combined efforts of Arshdeep, Brar and Kamboj restricted New Zealand to just 185 runs. India therefore needed 186 runs to win the opening match of the five-game ODI series. They chased the reduced DLS target of 143 in 22.4 overs.
