Mumbai Indians (MI) will face Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 4 at the Wankhede Stadium in IPL 2026. Both teams are struggling this season. They need a win to stay in the competition.
In a surprise move, Suryakumar Yadav came out for the toss as MI captain instead of Hardik Pandya. After winning the toss, MI decided to bowl first. The decision was based on the humid weather and pitch conditions.
Hardik Pandya out, Josh Inglis to debut for LSG
Hardik Pandya is missing the match due to illness. Suryakumar confirmed the same at the toss. Trent Boult has been dropped from the playing XI. Corbin Bosch returns to the side. Rohit Sharma will play as an impact substitute.
For LSG, Akshat Raghuwanshi replaces Mukul Choudhary. Australian wicketkeeper Josh Inglis will make his IPL 2026 debut.
at the toss, Yadav said, We will look to bowl first. (Any particular reason?) Nothing, it looks good. It’s a little humid also tonight. There’s no wind. In the second innings, we saw what happened here in the last 2-3 games. So it became a little better. So just want to take advantage and give it to the bowlers. He’s (Hardik) not well tonight, so just going into his shoes. But yeah, the rest, everything is fine. There’s definitely, Cobin Bosch comes in for Trent Boult and also our very own Rohit Sharma is back.“
