Delhi Capitals sign Rehan Ahmed as Ben Duckett replacement for IPL 2026

Delhi Capitals (DC) have made a late change to their squad for IPL 2026. They have signed England’s young all-rounder Rehan Ahmed as a replacement for Ben Duckett.

The 21-year-old joins the team for INR 75 lakh. He was part of the IPL 2026 mini auction but remained unsold. However, he was included in the Registered Available Player Pool (RAPP), which allowed DC to pick him as a replacement.

This will be Rehan Ahmed’s first time playing in the IPL. It is a big opportunity for the young cricketer to showcase his talent on a big stage.

“The Delhi Capitals are thrilled to announce the signing of young England sensation Rehan Ahmed for the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The 21-year-old leg-spinning all-rounder joins the DC family as a replacement for opening batter Ben Duckett. Rehan Ahmed’s arrival adds a lethal new dimension to the Capitals’ bowling arsenal. Known for his deceptive googlies and fearless lower-order hitting, Rehan joins Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam as wrist-spinning options,” read DC’s official statement.

Ahmed brings experience and variety

Rehan Ahmed has already played 13 T20 Internationals for England. He has taken 15 wickets and has a strike rate of 142.30 with the bat.

He also has experience in franchise cricket. He has played for Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League. He was also part of Trent Rockets in The Hundred 2025. In addition, he featured for Gulf Giants in the ILT20.

Ahmed was recently playing for Leicestershire in the County Championship. He will now travel to India to join the DC squad.

Meanwhile, Ben Duckett decided to pull out of IPL 2026. He wants to focus on his England career after a poor Ashes series. He scored only 20.20 on average and did not hit any half-century.

Duckett is currently playing for Nottinghamshire in the County Championship.
