Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have had a very poor start to their IPL 2026 campaign. The team has lost all three of their opening matches. They are currently at the bottom of the points table. This has increased pressure on the squad early in the season.
However, there is some positive news for CSK fans. Head coach Stephen Fleming has shared a fresh update on Dewald Brevis’ injury. The young South African batter has missed the first three matches due to a side strain.
New update on Dewald Brevis’ availability for CSK vs DC
Fleming spoke after CSK’s loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He sounded hopeful about Brevis’ return. The coach said the team is expecting him to be fit for the next match. CSK will face Delhi Capitals at home after a five-day break.
Fleming said the team has been careful with Brevis’ recovery. They did not want to rush him back too early. He added that the next few days will be very important. If everything goes as planned, Brevis could return for the DC game.
Brevis has already started light training. He was seen facing throwdowns on match day against Bengaluru. Assistant coach Rajiv Kumar worked closely with him. Brevis spent around 20 minutes in the nets. He looked comfortable and did not show any signs of pain.
After the session, Brevis also joined his teammates for a short football game. This was a good sign for the team management. It showed that his fitness is improving.
He had also trained earlier before the Punjab Kings match. He faced throwdowns and took part in fielding drills. But the team decided not to risk him in that game.
Brevis is an important player for CSK. He impressed last season with his aggressive batting. He scored 225 runs in six innings at a very high strike rate. In a difficult season for CSK, he was one of the few bright spots.
CSK will need his energy in the middle order. His return can bring balance to the playing XI. With the team struggling, Brevis’ comeback could be a big boost ahead of the crucial clash against Delhi Capitals.
