Delhi Capitals Beat UP Warriorz to Reach WPL 2026 Eliminator

Delhi Capitals kept their WPL 2026 campaign alive with a crucial win over UP Warriorz on Sunday, February 1. The match was the final game of the round-robin stage. Delhi needed a win to qualify for the Eliminator. A loss would have sent defending champions Mumbai Indians through on net run rate.

At the BCA Stadium in Vadodara, Delhi captain Jemimah Rodrigues won the toss and chose to bowl first. Chinelle Henry gave Delhi the perfect start. She dismissed UP Warriorz skipper Meg Lanning on the first ball of the match.

Deepti Sharma and Charli Knott tried to steady the innings with a cautious approach. However, Marizanne Kapp removed both batters in successive overs. The pressure kept mounting on the Warriorz. Wickets fell regularly as Delhi executed their bowling plans well.

By the 17th over, UP Warriorz were struggling at 94/8. A late stand between Shikha Pandey and Sophie Ecclestone added 28 runs off 19 balls. This partnership helped the Warriorz reach 122/8. Still, the total was well below par.

In reply, Delhi lost Lizelle Lee early in the second over. Shafali Verma and Laura Wolvaardt then stitched together a vital partnership. They added 73 runs off 64 balls. The Warriorz struck back late in the innings. Delhi slipped from 84/1 to 101/5. Despite the wobble, Jemimah guided her team home with Niki Prasad. Delhi won by five wickets with eight balls remaining.

Laura Wolvaardt impressed once again. The South African star scored 47 off 36 balls. She hit seven boundaries and batted with great calm.

Marizanne Kapp was named Player of the Match. She finished with figures of 3/30. Her spell included key wickets of Deepti Sharma, Charli Knott, and Deandra Dottin.

Delhi Capitals will now face Gujarat Giants in the Eliminator on Tuesday, February 3, at the same venue.
